Acceptable Formats for Legalisation:

         FCDO accepts the document in the following formats:

  •          Your original last will and testament witnessed in the UK by a solicitor or notary public
  •          A copy of your last will and testament which has been deposited with the relevant court and containing a court official’s signature or seal
  •          A copy or printout of your last will and testament certified in the UK by a solicitor or notary public

Requires Solicitor/Notary Certification?: Yes, Your last will and testament must be certified by a solicitor or notary public in the UK.

Requires Submission as Originals?: No.

Important Notes: Certification in UK; notary seal if applicable.

Common Use: Inheritance, estate planning abroad.

Requires Embassy Attestation?: Yes, for non-Hague countries (e.g., UAE, Qatar).
